Jamshedpur: ECI directs East Singhbhum DC to be separated from election duty

Jamshedpur, December 23: As the state is scheduled for General Elections in 2024 and Assembly polls late in the same year, preparation for smooth conduct of polls have already begun in right earnest.

Amidst poll related activities Election Commission of India has asked to keep Jamshedpur deputy c commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri away from this entire election process.

A formal order has been issued regarding this. He has been directed to be kept away from all election work.

East Singhbhum deputy development commissioner has been asked to do this work.

It is noteworthy that the Election Commission of India had written a letter to the Chief Secretary of the state on December 6, 2021, in which it had ordered to remove Manjunath Bhanjantri from the post of Deputy Commissioner and not to engage him in election work.

The Chief Secretary was also instructed to take action by formulating a charge sheet against Manjunath Bhajantri.

Action was taken on the basis of registration of cases in five different police stations against Godda MP Nishikant Dubey in one day.

The Commission had sought a reply after six months on registering a case of violation of the Model Code of Conduct against the MP, to which, upon not receiving a satisfactory reply, the Commission had ordered the removal of Manjunath Bhajantri from the post of Deputy Commissioner.

After this he has been asked not to engage in any election work. However, Manjunath Bhajantri has challenged the said order in the Jharkhand High Court, the hearing of which is going on.
