Jamshedpur, September 9: Members of the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecological Society, Jamshedpur Obstetrics and Gynecological Society (JOGS), and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Jamshedpur Branch have condemned the murder of a junior female doctor in Kolkata and demanded swift action against the perpetrators. During a press conference held by JOGS at the IMA Building in Sakchi on Monday, the participating doctors expressed their outrage over the lack of action, even after a month since the incident.
JOGS President Vinod Agarwal and IMA Secretary Dr. Saurabh Chaudhary expressed the urgent need for justice and protection for medical professionals. The doctors also reiterated their call for the implementation of the Medical Protection Act. Several female doctors, including Dr. Asha Gupta, Dr. Ranjana Joshi, and others, voiced their demands for the harshest punishment for those responsible and for stronger laws to ensure the safety of medical practitioners. Many female doctors from the city attended the conference in support of these demands.
