Jamshedpur: District administration vacates house after 23 years of illegal occupation

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, March 20: A long-standing dispute over ownership rights culminated in the district administration vacating a house at Mango Dimna Chowk in Jamshedpur, following a court order. On Wednesday, police officials oversaw the eviction of occupants from Vimala Devi’s residence, which had been illegally occupied for 23 years. Despite protests from the encroachers, the administration proceeded with the eviction in compliance with the court directive.

The presence of Judicial Magistrate Sumit Kumar, Superintendent Dheeraj Kumar, and Mango police station in-charge Niranjan Kumar ensured the smooth execution of the court order. Vimala Devi’s son revealed that a legal battle over the property’s ownership rights had ensued since 2003, culminating in the High Court ruling in favor of his mother after nearly two decades.

The occupants, led by Durga Devi, had contested the eviction; however, they acquiesced in the face of the administration’s intervention.
