Jamshedpur, April 29: A cyber criminal, identified as Kush Kumar, escaped from the custody of CID Crime Branch, Odisha, on Friday, sources said.
According to police, the CID team from Odisha arrested the accused from an apartment in Astha Twin City at Birsanagar. Inspector Narendra Kumar Mahant was leading the team. Acting on the basis of mobile phone location of the accused, the team reached the apartment and arrested the accused. Near Chhota Pulia, the accused sought permission to answer nature’s call. Within the next few minutes, the accused escaped from police custody.
The CID team officials said the accused was booked for duping a man of Rs 40 lakh in a cyber crime case registered in Odisha last year.
Local police officials said the CID team had not intimated them about the raid.
