Jamshedpur criminals threaten to abduct transporter, demand Rs 25 lakh

Jamshedpur, May 30: A Telco-based transporter Akash Kumar Sinha has reportedly received threatening abduction calls from criminals demanding Rs 25 lakh as extortion money, police said.

Sources said the criminals have threatened to abduct Akash in case he fails to pay them the said amount.

The criminals had earlier abducted Akash and his office staff Shivam on 27th May last near Golmuri Golf Course. Akash was on his way home from DTO Office in Sakchi. As he reached the Golf Course, criminals intercepted him while claiming to be policemen and abducted him in a car after blindfolding him. The criminals took Akash to Seraikela and called his family to demand a ransom of Rs 60 lakh, police said.

Akash’s family reportedly paid Rs 13 lakh to the abductors. The ransom was paid near Gate No 2 of Jubilee Park. Next day, Akash was released, cops said.

Sources said now the abductors have once again contacted Akash and asked him to come to Ranchi with Rs 25 lakh. The criminals have threatened to abduct one member of Akash’s family, sources said.
