Education key to social progress: Dr. Afroz Shakeel

Jamshedpur: Students of Upgraded High School ‘Rashtrapita Gandhi’, Mango, who performed well in the Matriculation examination conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council, were felicitated during a School Management Committee meeting.

Three students—Kaunain Ahmed (92.20%), Abdul Hai (90%), and Khalid Raza (87.40%)—brought laurels to the school with their outstanding results. They were encouraged and awarded prizes for their achievements.

The event was attended by School Management Committee President Zafar Iqbal Ahmed, Vice President Anuj Mridul Ekka, Secretary-cum-Headmistress Dr. Firdaus Bano, and PRE member Dr. Afroz Shakeel, along with teachers.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Afroz Shakeel stressed that education is the foundation of true societal development. Motivating the students, he described the Matric examination as an “iron gate” that opens up numerous opportunities once crossed.

Dr. Shakeel also shared that he has been providing free education to children from slum areas in Mango for the past 17 years. This year, around 33 students from his night school have successfully passed their examinations. Many of these students work in garages, hotels, or shops to support their families, making their success even more inspiring.

The programme concluded with appreciation for students’ efforts and encouragement for their future academic journey.
