Jamshedpur Crime: Drug addict Batla accused in firing incident at Cong leader arrested, arms recovered

Jamshedpur, July 28:  Police have arrested Akash Singh alias Batla who belongs to a drug addicts’ gang, in connection with the incident of firing at Congress leader Iqbal, a resident of Dhatkidih B Block, line number 8 under Bistupur police station.

During interrogation, Akash Singh alias Batla informed police following which, they recovered two country-made pistols, a six-round revolver and 11 live cartridges. The kingpin of the gang, Salman is still absconding.

While giving information, SSP Prabhat Kumar said that Batla, who was involved in the shooting incident, had served previous jail terms and was wanted in seven cases. He works in the Salman gang and seeks extortion from shopkeepers.

It may be mentioned that on July 15, Salman had fired on Congress leader Iqbal. So far, 12 persons have been arrested while police are carrying out raids to nab Salman.
