Jamshedpur: The court of Namita Chandra acquitted Rati Agnihotri and Manoj Sharma on Monday in a case involving attempted murder, assault, and Arms Act violations. The judge cleared the duo after finding the prosecution’s evidence insufficient to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Case Background and Trial
The legal battle stemmed from a 2019 incident in Ulidih. According to the FIR filed by Jasvir Singh on November 14, 2019, the police originally named three suspects: Agnihotri, Sharma, and Sanki Yadav. Following the death of Sanki Yadav during the proceedings, the trial continued solely against the remaining two defendants.
During the trial, the prosecution presented four witnesses to substantiate the charges. However, after hearing the arguments and examining the available testimony, the court ruled that the case lacked the necessary evidence to establish a conviction.
The Defense Strategy
Advocates Sudhir Kumar Pappu and Babita Jain represented the accused. They successfully argued that the prosecution failed to provide concrete proof linking their clients to the alleged crimes, ultimately securing the acquittal.
