Jamshedpur, Jan 11: Amidst rising cases of Covid-19, passengers of all trains coming from outside the state are being subjected to Covid-19 tests at Tatanagar railway station. Following fresh instructions from the Government, the district administration has increased vigilance at the entry points to the district.

According to officials, mushrooming outbreaks of the variant prompted them to impose stricter COVID-19 curbs.

Officials of Tatanagar railway station informed that the situation is being constantly monitored and coordinated at all levels. Desks have been set up all over the railway system and the staff has been sensitized and educated about the subject. The collaboration and coordination with the concerned health authorities are also being ensured.

Volunteers are being deputed along with the help desk so that the workers do not face any problem. In view of the convenience and safety of passengers, adequate amounts of face masks, hand sanitizers and other materials will also be made available in all buses.

â€œThe random tests at public places or areas of arrival will help to identify the patient so that they can be quarantined to stop further spread.  People are not taking the virus seriously. Markets are flooded with people.   If the people continue to evade following the norms of maintaining social distance and wearing masks, then the number of Covid cases may increase further,” AK Lal, civil surgeon.

In the wake of a new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic hitting several parts of the country, the district administration has started proactively measures to deal with such a scenario. Though the cases have come down rapidly as part of the preventive measures, the administration has come up with 10 new checkpoints to keep entering the city. These check posts have come up at entry points like Dobo-Kanderbera road that links to the steel city through Domuhani Bridge, Adityapur Bridge on river Kharkai to name a few.

” The random tests at markets will help to identify the patient so that they can be quarantined to stop further spread.  We are concerned over the growing number of Covid cases in the city, despite the district administration making all efforts, the people are not adhering to the rules of wearing masks and maintaining social distance. People are not taking the virus seriously. Markets are flooded with people.   If the people continue to evade following the norms of maintaining social distance and wearing masks, then the number of Covid cases may increase further,” said an official.
