Telco, Mango, Kadma and Sonari continue to remain hotspots
272 patients recover in 24 hours
Jamshedpur, Jan 11: Jamshedpur on Tuesday saw a record single-day rise of 1160 coronavirus cases, which pushed the total tally to 58888, while the daily death toll reached 1179 following 4 fresh fatalities, according to East Singhbhum health bulletin.
10-year-old Jugsalai boy, 80-year-old Birsanagar woman, Sonari Khuntadih man aged around 50 years and Telco Manifit resident man succumbed to the virus.
Tuesday’s report marks a single-day record for the number of new cases in Jamshedpur.
Jamshedpur’s positivity rate – the number of people testing positive for every 100 tests – has jumped to 10.14 per cent with the latest addition in cases. 11441 samples were tested on Tuesday.
Telco, Sakchi, Sonari, Kadma and Bistupur areas of the city have emerged hotspots as around 3000 cases have been detected till date. Total active cases in Jamshedpur are 5580.
The city has been producing a tidal wave of cases over the past days and the surge is believed to be driven by the Omicron variant. The variant is highly transmissible, according to experts.
East Singhbhum’s death toll went up to 1079 after four people succumbed to the disease.
On Tuesday, 1160 cases were reported positive taking the total active cases in the city to 5580.
17 cases each have been reported from Bagbera, 37 from Jugsalai, 42 from Parsudih, 1 from Bahragora, 187 from Telco, 67 from Golmuri, 47 from Birsanagar, 75 from Baridih, 103 from Kadma, 139 from Mangom 4 from Patamda, 76 from Bistupur, 13 from Sidhgora, 98 from Sakchi, 124 from Sonari, 3 each from Ghatsila and Sundernagar, 5 from Burmamines, 11 from Musabani, 6 from Potka, 4 from Sitaramdera, 2 from Dhalbhumgarh and 91 from different areas of city.
The positivity rate rose to 2.82 per cent in Jamshedpur.
The cumulative coronavirus case count stands at 58888 and the death count is now 1079, according to the latest health bulletin.
The new cases came out of the 11441 tests conducted on Tuesday.
There are 5580 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur.
As many 52229 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far with 272 recoveries recorded in the last 24-hours. 11441 COVID-19 tests, including 2520 RT-PCR, 8550 RAT and 371 TrueNat were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.
The district administration said it would go for aggressive containment and stricter enforcement of health protocols such as wearing masks and keeping social distance.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 7785610 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 90.47% while the mortality rate is 1.83 %.
So far in Jamshedpur 2093234 samples have been collected out of which 2091293 have been tested and 2032405 have turned out to be negative.
