Jamshedpur, Oct 17: Hundreds of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists and student leaders took out a march on foot to protest an ongoing construction at Sakchi Kabristan due to its proximity to the newly-shifted Graduate School College for Women.

The march started from Netaji Subhash Maidan (Aam Bagan ground) in Sakchi and culminated at Jamshedpur Collectorate where the protestors staged demonstration demanding immediately stay on the construction. The protestors raised slogan against the state government and the district administration and demanded stern administrative action against those responsible for the alleged ‘illegal’ construction inside the Kabristan.

Leading the protest, state BJYM president Kislay Tiwary said, “We have been demanding action against illegal construction at the Kabristan for the last two years. Illegal entry gate is being opened here and construction is also going on without permission. But the district administration did not take any action.”

A 15 member delegation of BJYM leaders and students met East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav at her office and demanded her intervention in the matter. The DC formed a probe committee which would submit its detailed report on the allegations within 15 days.

“Around 6000 girls come here to get education. The proximity of the main door of the Kabristan to the college will not leave good impact on these students. Often it is seen that anti-social elements gather there and pass indecent comments on the girls. It seems attempt is being made to convert this place as a centre of love jehad. Multi-storied building is being built at the Kabristan with the commercial purpose of opening shops, madarasa and coaching institutions there. We will not let this attempt become successful. The district administration should close the illegal entrance gate of the Kabristan and demolish the illegal construction inside it,” said Tiwary.

The protestors threatened to launch a statewide agitation in case the district administration failed to pay heed to its demands.

Jamshedpur Mahanagar BJP president Gunjan Yadav, state BJYM vice president Nishant Kumar and many other leaders were present during the protest.
