Jamshedpur: The State Government has mandated the provision of cycles to all students studying in class 8 under the Free Cycle Distribution Scheme for the financial year 2023-24. In line with this directive, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal has instructed all Block Development Officers (BDOs) to ensure the distribution of cycles stored in the block headquarters within the next two days.
Under this scheme, children belonging to Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, and Minority categories receive cycles from the Welfare Department, while children from the General Category receive cycles from the Education Department.
The District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner has emphasized the importance of a coordinated effort. He has directed all BDOs to work closely with schools and the Block Education Extension Officers to facilitate the systematic distribution of cycles at the block level.
