Youth Parliament passes NTA Reform Bill, honours outstanding delegates
Jamshedpur: Samwad 2026, the Steel City youth parliament and leadership initiative aimed at promoting democratic values and policy-oriented discussions among young people, concluded at Bistupur Club House on Saturday with the felicitation of outstanding delegates and the passage of a key bill on examination reforms.
The two-day event provided a platform for students and young participants to engage in parliamentary debates on issues of national importance. The second day witnessed extensive discussions on the NEET examination paper leak, transparency in national examinations, recruitment processes, exam security, and institutional accountability. Delegates from both the ruling and opposition sides actively participated in the debates, presenting arguments, raising questions, and suggesting policy measures.
A major highlight of the event was the passage of the National Testing Agency (Statutory Empowerment) Bill, 2026 by a majority vote. The bill seeks to strengthen the examination system by providing statutory status to the National Testing Agency (NTA), enhancing exam security, introducing independent audits, improving grievance redressal mechanisms, and ensuring greater transparency in recruitment and examination processes.
Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy attended the Youth Parliament and observed the proceedings. Addressing the participants, he appreciated the quality of debate and encouraged the youth to understand parliamentary traditions, democratic values, and the responsibilities of public representation.
The closing ceremony was attended by renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. Lalit Kapoor from Kolkata as the chief guest. He urged the youth to embrace discipline, dedication, and social service. Distinguished guests included Professor Kanagaraj of XLRI, Tata Workers’ Union Vice-President Sanjeev Tiwari, Rajesh Kumar, and Dr. Santosh Gupta, who shared insights on leadership, ethics, social responsibility, and continuous learning.
The organisers also recognised the contributions of volunteers Pushkar Singh Rajput, Hridyansh Raj, Abhignan Jaiswal, Rudra Ghosh, Tijil Tejash Bari, and Aarav Gupta. The event was led by founders Aryan Kumar, Shaurya Gupta, and Aditya Pandey, whose efforts were credited for the successful execution of the programme.
During the valedictory session, delegates were honoured for their parliamentary skills, research, leadership, and debating abilities. Anurag Arbind, representing the Rahul Gandhi delegation, received the Best Parliamentarian Award. Dushyant Chauhan (Rajnath Singh delegation) and Shivam Jaiswal (Nitin Gadkari delegation) received High Commendation Awards.
