Jamshedpur: Archer Komalika Bari crowned Sportsperson of the Year

Founder’s Day Sports: Flat Products wins ID Overall Championship Trophy

Jamshedpur, March 3: Founders Day Sports was conducted by Tata Steel Sports Department on March 3 at JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Seven Jamshedpur Units participated in Founders Day Sports out of 14 Units. Only workers category employees were entitled to participate.  TV Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel was the Chief Guest along with Ruchi Narendran.

Inter Divisional (ID) overall Championship Trophy was bagged by Flat Products with 16 points and General Offices was the runner-up with 13 points.

Only Jamshedpur units participated this year. Sports department conducted six ID games this year. TT, Badminton, Online Chess, Carrom, Badminton and Volleyball participated in the championship.   

Overall participation trophy was awarded jointly to General Offices, Iron Makings, ISWPL and Flat Products. These units team had participated in all 6 ID events held in 2021-22.

Fairplay Trophy (ID) was awarded to ISWPL Units. Best sportsperson of the year was awarded to  Komalika Bari. (Purnima Mahato her Coach received the trophy on her behalf).

Entire events were conducted and officiated by the qualified officials, employees of Sports Dept and trainees of Training Center.

Also present on the occasion were Tata Steel Vice Presidents, MD’s of other divisions.  VP’s of Tata Steel Sanjiv Paul, D. B. Sunder Raman, Avneesh Gupta, Probol Ghosh, Chaitanya Bhanu, Chanakya Choudhary, Tata Steel UISL MD Tarun Daga, Atrayee Sarkar, Sanjiv Nanda, Dr. Sudhir Rai, Gopal Choudhary, Dr. Rajan Choudhary, Rituraj Sinha, Sarvesh Kumar, Sanjeev Kr Choudhary President (TWU);  Satish Kumar Singh, General Secretary (TWU), Shahnawaz Alam, Shailesh Singh, and others.
