Jamshedpur, Jan 16: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has identified 12 contractors who took contracts for various construction projects, including building repairs, roads and drains, but failed to start the work. These contractors have now been issued notices, instructing them to begin the work immediately. If they do not comply, they face the possibility of having their contracts revoked and being blacklisted.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar emphasized that strict action will be taken against any contractor who fails to start the work as per the agreement. The projects affected include repairs and constructions in areas such as Birsanagar, Baridih, JEMCO, Laxminagar, Sakchi and others under the Citizen Facility Scheme.

The projects, funded through the 15th Finance Commission plan, involve community building, school room construction and the laying of paver blocks, among others. These works are vital to improving infrastructure and public facilities in Jamshedpur.

Ensuring quality control in development projects

In another development, the JNAC engineering cell is focusing on maintaining the quality of work in ongoing development projects across the city. REO Executive Engineer Rajesh Rajak led a meeting with the team of Assistant Engineers and Junior Engineers, where they discussed measures to ensure that no substandard work is carried out. Rajak also instructed the team to monitor the performance of agencies that secured tenders by under-pricing their bids.

To further oversee the quality of work, a similar meeting will be held soon with engineers from the Mango Municipal Corporation to ensure that the projects in the Mango area also meet the required standards.
