JALSA at XLRI Jamshedpur: When Rhythm Became a Roadmap for Peace and Harmony

Jamshedpur, October 17: XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, witnessed a spectacular evening of unity and celebration as SPICMACAY hosted JALSA – The Garba Night, marking the first major cultural event of the academic season. More than a festival, JALSA became a living expression of XLRI’s values where diversity met togetherness and joy became a shared leadership lesson.

The evening began with an auspicious Aarti, invoking peace, harmony and inclusivity. What followed was not just a performance but a participative experience a collective rhythm where students, faculty and staff danced side by side, erasing hierarchies and embodying the spirit of community.

Unlike a conventional celebration, JALSA was participation by design. The Garba circles were structured to ensure that everyone from first-timers to seasoned dancers felt welcome. The event stood out for its intentional inclusivity, thoughtful design and mindful celebration of culture. Every element from lighting to choreography was crafted to create belonging, joy and psychological safety.

Speaking about the event, representatives from ADSA (Associate Dean Student Affairs) shared, “JALSA was not just a festival but a reflection of how community, empathy and inclusion can be built through culture. It reminded us that peace is not silence it’s synchronized diversity.”

From spontaneous laughter to extended hands guiding hesitant steps, JALSA turned Garba into a leadership metaphor many rhythms, one harmony; many voices, one song. It symbolized what XLRI stands for: nurturing responsible leaders who value collaboration, empathy and inclusion as the foundation of excellence.

With JALSA, XLRI reaffirmed its belief that culture is not a backdrop to education it is education in motion, shaping individuals to lead with integrity, compassion and a commitment to the greater good.
