ISRO Chief inspires graduates at BIT Mesra’s 35th Convocation

Ranchi, Oct 15: The Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra celebrated its 35th convocation ceremony with great enthusiasm, conferring degrees upon more than 1,400 students across undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD, and diploma programs. The event was graced by Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of ISRO, as the chief guest, who inspired graduates to nurture curiosity, uphold empathy and contribute to nation-building through innovation and integrity.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Narayanan said, “As you begin your professional journey, remember that empathy, cooperation and purpose are the cornerstones of success. Use the knowledge and values gained at this prestigious institution to transform lives and address global challenges. A bright future full of opportunities awaits you.”

The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp and the institute prayer, symbolizing wisdom and progress. CK Birla, Chancellor of BIT Mesra and Chairman of the CK Birla Group, emphasized that a convocation marked not an end but the beginning of lifelong learning. “The world needs leaders who think clearly, act ethically and create purposefully. BIT Mesra graduates will lead this transformation,” he remarked.

Vice Chancellor Professor Indranil Manna presented the annual report, highlighting the institute’s strides in research, innovation and international collaboration. He reaffirmed BIT Mesra’s commitment to nurturing industry-ready leaders and advancing India’s technological growth.

At the ceremony, degrees were awarded to 1,000 undergraduates, 320 postgraduates, 75 PhD scholars, and 65 diploma holders, while gold medals were presented to top performers. The event concluded with the felicitation of dignitaries and a vote of thanks to faculty, staff and the convocation committee.
