India triumphs over Japan in Women’s Asian Hockey Tournament in Ranchi

Ranchi, Oct 31: In the Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy held in Ranchi, the host nation, India, secured their fourth consecutive victory by defeating Japan 2-1 in a closely contested match. The thrilling encounter took place at the Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Stadium in Marang Gomke.
Both teams displayed impressive gameplay from the outset, resulting in a goalless first half. However, India broke the deadlock in the 31st minute when Navneet Kaur orchestrated a brilliant field goal. Japan swiftly responded, converting a penalty corner into a goal in the 37th minute, with Kana Urata finding the net. The third quarter concluded with a 1-1 tie.
The match’s final quarter was nothing short of exciting. India capitalized on a penalty corner in the 47th minute, seizing the lead with a goal from Deepika. The stadium came alive with excitement as Deepika’s goal secured India’s victory and maintained their position at the top of the points table.
