House catches fire on Diwali in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Oct 25: Property worth several lakhs was gutted in a fire mishap at Lohiya Path in Baridih Basti, Sidhgora, on the day of Diwali. The incident occurred when a child bursted firecrackers in the house of one Amar. Sparks from the cracker led a scooty kept in the house to catch fire. Soon the fire spread around the house, destroying furniture and other goods, sources said.

Fire tenders from Tata Motors and state fire department rushed to the scene and doused the flames after much effort. Amar said his son was burning the crackers inside the house which led to the mishap. He sustained minor burns in his hands and feet while trying to douse the fire.
