Jamshedpur, August 12: Jamshedpur’s Rural cum City SP Rishabh Garg announced plans to strengthen the city’s traffic system and crime prevention measures during a press conference on Monday. The initiative centres on installing high-resolution cameras at key intersections and squares throughout Jamshedpur.

The proposed system will utilize PT set cameras and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras, enabling quick identification of vehicle number plates. This technology aims to address two primary concerns: curbing rash driving and enhancing overall crime prevention.

SP Garg revealed that discussions with Tata management regarding the implementation of this system are scheduled within the next month. The strategic placement of these cameras at major city junctions is expected to significantly improve traffic management while also serving as a deterrent to criminal activities.

The ANPR technology will allow authorities to swiftly trace and issue challans to reckless drivers, promoting safer road practices. Beyond traffic control, the high-resolution cameras will provide valuable surveillance data to aid in crime investigation and prevention.
