Hemant Soren oppressed in jail : Gandey’s JMM MLA Kalpana

Ranchi, June 6: Gandey’s JMM MLA Kalpana Soren has alleged that her husband and former Chief Minister of the state Hemant Soren has been oppressed by BJP in jail.

Referring to the case of the custodial death of tribal rights activist Father Stan Swamy, Kalpana Murmu Soren said that efforts are being made to make Jharkhand like Manipur.

Kalpana Murmu Soren said that the recent Lok Sabha elections are the beginning of taking revenge for the custodial death of Father Stan Swamy.

Kalpana Murmu Soren said that the custodial death of Father Stan Swamy is a black spot on the state of democracy and human rights in India.

Kalpana Murmu Soren shared a picture of late Father Stan Swamy and former Chief Minister Hemant Soren on social media and wrote that “This election Jharkhand has begun to avenge the unjust custodial death of 84-year-old Jesuit priest and tribal rights activist Father Stan Swamy, which is a black spot on India’s democracy and human rights situation. Despite his old age and Parkinson’s disease, Father Stan, who has advocated and fought for the rights of tribal communities for decades, was denied bail and proper medical treatment on false terrorism charges framed by the BJP government. He was not given a straw worth 25 paise to drink water.

She further adds that due to deteriorating health in prison conditions, Father Stan unfortunately died in custody on July 5, 2021. His death is an example of BJP’s policy of suppressing the opposition and tribals under the pretext of terrorism and criminalizing human rights work.

“Just as Father Stan, who raised his voice for the most vulnerable, was silenced by institutional neglect and injustice, today the same kind of oppression is being done on Hemant Soren. Today, every Jharkhandi needs to stand strongly in support of Hemant Soren, otherwise they will not stop from turning Jharkhand into Manipur.”

It is worth mentioning that in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has won three Lok Sabha seats.

JMM has won Dumka, Singhbhum and Rajmahal Lok Sabha seats. When Hemant Soren went to jail and Guruji (Shibu Soren) fell ill, Kalpana Murmu Soren led the party in the elections. She held a series of public meetings. Kalpana Murmu Soren herself has reached the Assembly by winning the by-election of Gandey Assembly.
