Ranchi: In a peculiar development at Heavy Engineering Corporation Limited (HEC), employees are reportedly prohibited from leaving the premises even for tea and snacks. The management’s decision has led to daily disputes between employees and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel. The restrictions are being criticized as a violation of industry policies.
HEC has been grappling with a lack of working capital, causing a near standstill in production for the past six months. Despite the challenges, workers are required to spend eight hours daily within the factory premises, with no permission to exit the gate. Laldev Singh, Vice President of HEC Workers Union, voiced concerns about the violation of the Industrial Act in the plants. He described the situation, stating that HEC plants have effectively become like jails, and the closure of the canteen due to financial constraints is exacerbating the challenges faced by the employees.
The stringent measures taken by the management are being met with resistance from the workforce, further highlighting the difficult circumstances faced by HEC employees amidst the financial crisis affecting the company.
