Jamshedpur, March 29: Jamshedpur Mahanagar BJP leaders staged a sit-in at Kasidih Durga Puja ground on Tuesday to protest against denial of permission by the state government to celebrate Hindu New Year, Sarhul and Ramnavami procession.
Leading the protestors, party leader Abhay Singh accused the Hemant Soren government of working with an anti-Hindu mindset. He alleged that the Congress party was putting pressure on the state government to cause deliberate disruption to Hindu festivities in order to hurt the Hindus across the state. He said the Central government had ended all Covid-related curbs with effect from 31st March. Still the state government had not given permission for Hindu New Year and Ramnavami celebrations.
The BJP leaders said the state government had given permission to organize Congress party workers’ felicitation programme at Gopal Maidan, Bistupur, just a couple of days ago. Schools, colleges and cinemas have also been opened. Then there is no justification in preventing Hindus and Adivasis from celebrating their festivals, said the BJP leaders.
