Govt serious to recover pending water tax dues

Ranchi: Taking strong exception to huge pending tax dues water resources minister Chandra Prakash Choudhary asked the department officials to take immediate steps to collect 26080 Crores yet to be realized as tax dues.

Notices would be issued to the concerned organizations to clear past dues within a time frame and if the dues are not paid legal action would be initiated against the tax violators, the minister here said. Choudary also asked the officials to take necessary steps to clear pending cases in the court for settlement of the tax dues.

The department has said that if the concerned organizations clear past dues a staggering 26080 Crores would go to the government�s exchequer.

The government would have to realize past tax dues from Railways, various industry houses, educational institutions and department of drinking and sanitation.

South Eastern Railway Hatia owes 2.22 Crore, SE Railway Muri owes 1.25 Crore, Hindalco Muri owes 1.72 Crore, BIT Mesra owes 44 Lakhs, ACC Limited owes Jhinkpani owes 5 lakhs, Tata Steel Mines Division Noamundi owes 6.81 Crores as water tax. Tax dues of 3.48 Crore is pending on SE Railway Chakradharpur, 56 lakhs on SAIL Gua, 7 lakh on Jupiter Cement Industries Limited.

On the other hand Arcelor Mittal Group would have to shell out 25,000, Jindal Steel Power would have to pay 56 lakhs, Bhusan Power and Steel Limited to pay 7.32 lakh, Horizon Iron Industries Limited to pay 56,000, Electro Steel Disom Guru Iron Ore Mines to pay 62,000 (case pending in the court), Kohinoor Steel Limited to pay 5.12 Crore (cases pending in the court), Adhunik Alloy and Power Limited to pay 3.22 Crore (case pending), Adhunik Thermal Energy Limited to pay 72.92 Crore (case pending), Drinking Water and Sanitation department Chandil to pay 31 lakhs, AML Steel Limited to pay 2.84 Crore, Drinking water and sanitation (Adityapur) to pay 2.66 Crore, Drinking water and sanitation Jamshedpur to pay 2.55 Crore as water tax.

Bokaro Steel Plant would have to shell out 50 lakh, UCIL to make payments of 6.35 Crore, Abhijit Infrastructure to pay up 52.23 lakhs, Corporation Steel Limited to pay 3 crore, UCIL Turamdih to pay dues to the tune of 2.12 Crore, TVNL Lalpania to deposit 6.39 lakhs, Bokaro Industrial Area Development Authority to pay up 21 lakhs.

Tax dues are pending on Chandrapura Thermal Power Station (17.39 lakhs), Arcelor Mittal India Limited (3.75 lakhs), Inland Power Limited (78.81 lakhs), Bramhaputra Metalix Limited (90 lakhs), Electro Steel Limited (13.93 Crore), Arcelor Mittal India Limited (3.75 lakhs), Jharkhand Steel Private Limited (8.76 lakhs), Essar Power Jharkhand Limited (4.30 Crore), Corporate Steel Alloy Limited (50 lakhs) and Jindal (38.43 lakhs).
