Ghatshila Assembly By-Election: Micro observers to strengthen poll monitoring

Jamshedpur: The first randomization of micro observers for the Ghatshila (ST) Assembly By-Election 2025 was successfully completed today at the Collectorate Auditorium, Jamshedpur. The process was conducted in the presence of General Observer Rakhi Biswas and District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Karn  Satyarthi.

The randomization process, an important step in the election management system, ensures transparency and impartiality in the allocation of micro observers to polling stations. The officials emphasized that the procedure strictly adhered to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, maintaining a fair and accountable framework for election deployment.

It was informed during the session that a total of 300 polling stations have been established in the Ghatshila Assembly constituency, where polling will be held on November 11, 2025. As per Election Commission instructions, 36 micro observers, including 6 additional observers, have been randomly assigned to oversee 30 identified polling locations across the constituency. The final randomization of micro observers will take place on November 9, 2025, after which they will be deployed to their designated polling stations.

Speaking on the occasion, District Election Officer  Karn  Satyarthi highlighted the vital role played by micro observers in ensuring free, fair, and peaceful elections. He stated that micro observers act as the “eyes and ears” of the Election Commission, closely monitoring sensitive polling stations, keeping an eye on poll proceedings, and reporting any irregularities directly to the observers.

General Observer  Rakhi Biswas also reviewed the randomization procedure and expressed satisfaction over the systematic approach adopted by the district administration. She reiterated the importance of maintaining transparency and accuracy at every stage of the electoral process to uphold the integrity of democracy.

The event was attended by Assistant Returning Officers, election officials, and representatives from political parties, ensuring that the process remained open and accountable. The District Election Office reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the Ghatshila by-election in a smooth, transparent, and credible manner, under the supervision and directives of the Election Commission of India.
