Jamshedpur, June 24: A fresh wave of uncertainty has gripped Jamshedpur as petrol and diesel supplies have reportedly dwindled at several fuel stations across the city, forcing motorists to scramble for fuel and raising concerns over a possible supply disruption.
With ‘No Stock’ notices appearing at numerous petrol pumps, long queues and anxious customers have become a common sight in the industrial city.
Notably, this is the second such episode within a month, rekindling fears of a prolonged fuel crisis. The latest shortage comes against the backdrop of continuing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, prompting speculation among consumers about potential impacts on fuel availability and prices.
Industry observers recall that a similar situation unfolded just weeks ago, when petrol and diesel supplies remained strained for several days.

While the crisis eventually eased after supply chains stabilized, the recurrence of the problem has left residents questioning whether the current disruption is merely logistical or indicative of larger concerns within the petroleum supply network.
The situation intensified on Wednesday, with several petrol pumps reportedly running completely dry. At some outlets, only diesel or premium-grade fuel remained available, compelling motorists to travel from one station to another in search of fuel. In many areas, long queues were witnessed as consumers rushed to fill their tanks amid fears of worsening shortages.
Petrol pump operators have largely refrained from commenting on the reasons behind the shortage. Staff members at various outlets have stated that they are functioning according to instructions received from higher authorities, offering little clarity on when normal supplies will resume. The lack of official communication has further fueled speculation and public anxiety.
Residents have urged both the administration and oil marketing companies to issue a clear statement regarding the situation. Many believe that transparent communication is essential to prevent rumours, panic buying, and possible hoarding. If the disruption is purely a supply-chain issue, authorities must reassure the public and outline corrective measures. Conversely, if international developments are affecting fuel availability, citizens expect timely updates to avoid uncertainty.
For now, the city remains on edge, with the key question being whether the current shortage is a temporary logistical setback or an early indication of potential fuel price revisions and broader supply challenges in the days ahead.
