Jamshedpur, June 25: Police arrested three accused in separate criminal cases across the city, including a key suspect in a copper wire theft, a fugitive wanted in an NDPS case, and an accused linked to a stolen heavy vehicle racket.
In Azadnagar, police arrested Umar Farooq, the prime accused in the theft of copper wiring from an under-construction house near Chepapul. The arrest follows the earlier detention of co-accused Shah Rukh and Faiz Ahmed alias Bholu, who were sent to judicial custody on Tuesday.
Azadnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Chandan Kumar said the case was registered on June 18 on the complaint of Firoz Akhtar, who had reported the theft against unknown persons.
In another development, Jugsalai police apprehended Mohd. Faiz, a fugitive accused in a case registered under the NDPS Act. He had been evading arrest for several months. Acting on intelligence regarding his whereabouts in Purulia, a police team conducted a raid and successfully arrested him. He was later produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, MGM police arrested Chandan Singh, who had been absconding in connection with the theft of a Hyva truck from NH-33. Investigators alleged that the stolen vehicle’s registration plate and chassis number were tampered with to conceal its identity.
Chandan was traced and arrested from Bihar before being sent to jail. Earlier, police had arrested three other accused—Satyendra Singh, Nagendra Singh, and Saroj Singh—in the same case. The accused are alleged to have been involved in stealing heavy commercial vehicles and altering their chassis numbers for illegal operation and resale.
Police said investigations in all three cases are continuing.
