Jamshedpur, May 21: A fortnight-long summer cricket camp began at the Birsa Munda Cricket Stadium ground in Chaibasa on May 20.
Held under the aegis of West Singhbhum District Cricket Association, about 40 players from different blocks of West Singhbhum district are participating in the camp.
Aseem Kumar Singh, general secretary of West Singhbhum District Cricket Association, said that children up to the age of 16 years have registered for the camp.
District and state level coaches will teach different bowling and batting techniques to the kids.
He informed that during the morning session West Singhbhum Under-19 team is practicing under coach Shankar Vishwakarma.
The team will leave for Dhanbad on May 24 to participate in JSCA Inter District Under-19 (Elite Group) cricket tournament.
In the second session training of under-16 kids is going on in which district cricket association general secretary Aseem Kumar Singh, besides former cricketer Anoop Burman, Supriyo Faujdar, Sushil Sharma, Mohd Tariq, Pranay Kumar and Tejnath Lakra gave tips to kids.
Former Ranji cricketer Pradeep Khanna, Dhoni’s friend and batsman Shabbir Hussain, Sanjeev Gupta, Siddharth Raj Sinha and Madhusudan Tantubai have agreed to render their services for the summer camp and soon all of the former cricketers will be visiting Chaibasa to give tips to youngsters.
