Food poisoning outbreak affects over 70 women and children in Koderma

Koderma, Oct 22: A distressing incident has unfolded in Lokai and Balerotand areas of Koderma, where more than 70 children and women have fallen victim to food poisoning. Reports indicate that all the affected individuals had consumed food secretly, after which they began experiencing stomach pain, followed by vomiting and diarrhoea. Subsequently, they were admitted to Sadar Hospital.

Currently, all the afflicted children and women are undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital. The condition of some of the children is reportedly serious, with several of them receiving saline solutions in the emergency ward after initial treatment. It is anticipated that the number of affected individuals may rise, as more children are arriving at Sadar Hospital for medical care. Emergency doctors are diligently monitoring the situation and providing essential care to the patients. Notably, top officials, including DC Megha Bhardwaj, have visited Sadar Hospital to oversee the situation.

In response to this situation, the police have apprehended the young man responsible for the clandestine food preparation, and he is currently under interrogation. The food safety team is conducting thorough inspections of food products. Additionally, doctors and nursing staff have been instructed to remain on duty 24/7 at Sadar Hospital.
DC Megha Bhardwaj assured that the children’s condition is being closely monitored, and they will be kept under medical care at Sadar Hospital until the following day. She also urged people attending fairs to consume food from reputable, clean sources and advised vigilance and caution regarding their health during this festive season.
