Jamshedpur, August 17: Passengers traveling from Tatanagar to Jaynagar will face higher fares compared to the Chhapra Express due to a longer route taken by the new Jaynagar train.

The distance between Tatanagar and Samastipur is 455 km via the Chhapra Express, while the Jaynagar weekly train covers 541 km, adding an extra 85 km to the journey. Consequently, fares for the Jaynagar train are higher across all classes.

For instance, the fare to Samastipur is Rs 325 in sleeper, Rs 880 in third AC, and Rs 1245 in second AC on the Jaynagar train, compared to Rs 280, Rs 755, and Rs 1070 respectively on the Chhapra Express. Despite the increased fare, passengers are optimistic about the direct service provided by the Jaynagar train, which eliminates the need for additional travel to Darbhanga, Madhubani, and other stations, offering greater convenience for Mithila residents.
