Jamshedpur, Sept 27:A tragic incident in Jamshedpur has left the city stunned after a 28-year-old woman ended her life while streaming live on Facebook, accusing her husband of relentless harassment.
The episode unfolded on Friday afternoon at Farm Area in Kadma.
The deceased, identified as Malti Kumari, was alone at home when she took the drastic step.
Her husband was at work, and their two children were away at school. Family members rushed her to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) upon discovering the incident, but doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
Investigations revealed that Malti died by hanging herself from a ceiling fan using a scarf.
In her final moments, broadcast live on social media, she levelled serious allegations against her husband Sahdev Yadav, blaming ongoing marital disputes and unbearable mental torment for driving her to suicide.
Malti married Sahdev in 2013 and was the mother of two children.
Her parental home is in Giridih, while her in-laws reside in Koderma. The family had been living in Kadma, where Sahdev works as a contractual employee with Tata Steel.
Soon after the news spread, Malti’s maternal relatives reached the hospital and held Sahdev responsible for her death.
Acting without any delay, Kadma police detained the husband for questioning, using the Facebook Live footage as key evidence.
The post-mortem examination was conducted on Saturday, following which the body was handed over to the family for cremation.
Police have initiated a detailed probe, including forensic analysis of the video.
The disturbing case has sparked widespread concern over increasing instances of domestic distress and the alarming rise of individuals turning to social media to share their final messages.
