Experts brainstorm ideas for better School education in India

Jamshedpur, April 29: CeRTEL (Centre for Excellence in Research, Training and Leadership) XLRI, one of XLRI’s reach out programmes aiming at enhancing the teaching/learning experience in the schools of India organised �Teach India; Reach India� – National Colloquium on School Education on Saturday.

The event was inaugurated by Mrs. Ruchi Narendran, Managing Trustee of Jusco Education Mission (JEM) Foundation in presence of Dr. A. K. Pani, Dean (Academics), XLRI and other dignitaries. Mrs. Narendran delivered the keynote address.

Around 50 educationists, practitioners, Principals, policy makers and NGOs from across the country gathered at XLRI Campus to brainstorm on key issues relating to education in an effort to find common ground where they can work together to bring about positive changes in school education in India.

The day long programme comprised of various events including group works, panel discussions, and sharing of best practices by the participants.

Dr Sanjeev Varshney, Professor, XLRI, presented a white paper on The Status of School Education in India Today. The session on sharing of best practices saw participants share their innovative experiments on best practices which worked for them. The session also included a brainstorming group challenge where the members had to work out an innovative action plan for future direction.

�XLRI has had a long and cherished tradition of training teachers, conducting workshops for Principals and trying out innovations and novel ideas in teaching. CeRTEL (Centre for Excellence in Research, Training and Leadership) is the outreach programme which carries out these activities.

As part of its ongoing efforts to make a meaningful contribution to school education in India, CeRTEL organized this National Colloquium on School Education today,� commented Rev. Dr. Francis Peter, S. J. Chairperson, CeRTEL, XLRI.

A new leadership and management course-PG Certificate in Applied Educational Leadership and Management Programme, a year-long online programme rolled out by XLRI for existing and aspiring heads of schools was launched at the event.
