Existence of Saranda forest in danger: Nishikant Dubey

Ranchi: BJP MP from Godda Nishikant Dubey today said the state government was facing an annual revenue loss to the tune of Rs 15,000 crore.

Citing the MP Sah Committee Report, he said the very existence of the world famous Saranda forest was in danger.

He said there are 42 mines in the region out of which 40 were illegal.

Dubey, who was speaking to scribes on Sunday, alleged that the mines in the Saranda region had favoured extremists and helped them grow by strengthening their foothold.

He said many mining companies were involved in illegal mining of iron ore which directly led to destruction of forest and exploitation of natural resources.

The MP further said that many companies were giving levy to Naxalites. He said many bureaucrats, mining department officials and police officers were involved in illegal mining business.

The state governments from the time of Madhu Koda up to Hemant Soren have been tacitly supporting the illegal mining activities in Saranda region. Congress party formed a committee in order to patronize such people.

This is why I demand a CBI probe into the allegations on the basis of the report of MP Sah Committee, said Dubey.
