Jamshedpur: Tata Steel observed the closing function of the Ethics Month 2018, today, at the Steelenium Hall inside the Works premises. The theme for the Ethics Month 2018 was ‘Brand – Where Ethics makes a difference’. The day marked the end of a month-long calendar of events to commemorate the values of integrity, unity, excellence, pioneering and responsibility, all hallmarks of the Tata Group.
The occasion was graced by the presence of T V Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel, (Over VC from Mumbai) and R Ravi Prasad, President, Tata Workers’ Union as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Narendran said “Ethics is the foundation on which we are respected as a brand which enjoys trust and credibility. As a Group and as a Company, we walk the talk. We are all custodians of Ethics and touch points for our stakeholders. Ethical behavior is a legacy which we should leave for the next generation.”
Ravi Prasad said that “ Ethical behavior is very important. A strong example of Ethics at work in Tata Steel can be seen in the way agreements are not only signed between the management and union but also implemented accordingly. This is important from the Ethics point of view. Hence ethical behavior contributes towards a positivity in all directions”
Corporate Ethics, each year, commemorates the month of July as the Ethics Month. In keeping with this tradition and to inculcate ethical practices at work, a series of events such as Nukkad Natak, Mass Meeting, Rangoli and Poster competitions besides other town hall events were organised for the employees of the Company across all its operational locations. The aim was to depict the idea and understanding of the theme creatively in a collaborative manner.
Town Hall Events were held at Corporate Services, Global Wires, TMH, Procurement, Raw Materials Divisions at Jharia, West Bokaro, Joda and Bamnipal, Shared Services, Steel Manufacturing areas of Long Product, Flat Product, CRC West, Iron Making Units and in other Divisions / Units like Safety Health & Sustainability, IBMD, ITS , Automation, Corporate Audit, HO Mumbai. At Kalinganagar, this was held at RMHS, Coke Plant, Sinter Plant, HSM, Blast Furnaces and TSK Centre.
The Closing Function began with all present taking an Ethics Pledge followed by a presentation on the glimpses of events of the Ethics month. Screening of films as part of the Ethics Film Festival was also done. For the first time, and instant Ethics Poll was taken with Real time visualization. A musical parody followed.
