Jamshedpur, Nov 22: In a bid to ease traffic congestion in Sakchi, authorities launched a major anti-encroachment drive on Saturday.

The operation was carried out from Sakchi roundabout to Aam Bagan Chowk, targeting roadside vendors and illegally parked vehicles.

A large number of street carts, makeshift stalls, and vehicles parked outside shops were cleared during the drive, causing temporary chaos along the stretch.

The operation was led by Krishna Kumar, the deputy municipal commissioner of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), who stated that such drives will continue to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Despite the removal of pushcarts and vendors, several attempted to return to the roadside soon after the operation concluded. Officials again warned them and removed the encroachments.

Meanwhile, owners of four-wheelers parked along the road were repeatedly requested to move their vehicles. When some ignored the warnings, police resorted to deflating the tyres of cars and even unlocked motorcycles to enforce compliance.

Authorities affirmed that the crackdown will be sustained to maintain order and prevent recurring congestion in the busy commercial zone of Sakchi.
