Jamshedpur firing: Main accused on police remand, pistol recovered

Jamshedpur, June 26: Police have made a significant breakthrough in the June 1 firing case near Sibtain Mosque on Road No. 3 under Azadnagar police station area, recovering the weapon used in the crime after interrogating the main accused on police remand.
City SP Lalit Meena said the prime accused, Mubarak Ansari (24) of Rahmat Nagar, Kapali, led investigators to the recovery of a 7.65 mm pistol, one live cartridge, and one spent cartridge case allegedly used in the shooting.
According to police, the firing involved Mubarak Ansari, Mohammad Shafiq, Tanveer alias Imran alias Khepa, Mahtab, and Tanveer alias Sameer. An FIR was registered at Azadnagar police station immediately after the incident, and an investigation was launched.
During the probe, Tanveer alias Imran alias Khepa was arrested on June 13 and remanded to judicial custody. Police subsequently carried out raids across Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha to apprehend the remaining accused.
Amid mounting police pressure, Mubarak Ansari surrendered before the court on June 22. He was later taken into 48-hour police remand, during which he disclosed the location of the firearm, leading to its recovery.
Police said Mubarak has a prior criminal record. Raids are continuing to arrest the remaining absconding accused, and officials expressed confidence that the case will soon be fully solved.
