Elderly woman robbed of cash and documents in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Nov 10: A 73-year-old woman, Rita Dutta, residing in the Apna Aangan society under Govindpur police station area, was robbed by unidentified miscreants who fled with her purse containing cash and some important documents.

According to the police, the stolen purse contained Rs 52,000 in cash, a voter ID card, Aadhaar card, PAN card, a Bank of India passbook, seven Bank of India cheque books, and her Samsung mobile phone.

 

The incident came to light when Dutta informed Govindpur police. She had withdrawn money from the Bank of India Telco branch around 1:40 pm and was on her way to get a life certificate issued at the Pragya Kendra located near the residence of former chief minister Arjun Munda in Ghorabandha.

Just then, a boy riding a motorcycle came speeding there and snatched her purse by jerking it out of her hand.

The woman screamed, but the miscreant quickly fled towards Manpita. Later, the police reached the spot.

They have begun an investigation and are scanning local CCTV footage to identify the culprits.
