Jamshedpur: The farms of Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency will soon turn into green areas as the farmers will be able to irrigate the same without spending a penny from their pocket. The MP of Jamshedpur and senior Jharkhand Vikas Morcha leader Dr Ajay Kumar is going to help the farmers with the help of renowned agricultural scientist and farmer Mangal Singh of Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Concerned about the low income and irrigation difficulties of the farmers, the MP had recently met Mangal Singh, who has been included in the Limca Book of Records for inventing the irrigation facility wherein turbines are installed in rivers for irrigating thousands of acres of agricultural land.
It is going to be a boon for the farmers of the district. They will get the expert help of Mangal Singh who will teach them how to carry out irrigation with the help of turbines. No fuel cost will be incurred on the farmers and they will be able to produce more crops on their well-irrigated land, said Shashi Bhushan, representative of the MP.
Conventionally, farmers across the country, including those of Jharkhand, irrigate their land with the help of pumps running either through power supply or diesel which is very costly.
As per plan, one turbine is being installed at river Shankh under Parulia panchayat of Mosabani block under a pilot project. The turbine will help irrigate around 400 acre of land. Very soon, turbines will be installed in other blocks of the district, Bhushan said.
