Jamshedpur, Jan 11: The 34th and 35th FCI Dog Shows, along with the 77th and 78th JKC Championship Dog Shows, are being hosted at the Archery Ground of the J.R.D. Tata Sports Complex.
Organized under the auspices of the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and The Kennel Club of India, the prestigious event commenced on January 9 and will conclude on January 12.
On day 3 of the show on January 11, a variety of dog breeds, including Labradors, Beagles, Dobermans, Siberian Huskies, and more, were showcased, drawing a large crowd of dog enthusiasts.
Among the standout participants was Cartridge, a 24-month-old Beagle owned by Gurdeep Singh Maan from Punjab. Playful and friendly, Cartridge thrives in all weather conditions and has a mixed diet of dog food and regular meals. Gurdeep shared that the Beagle is priced at ₹75,000, with breed prices ranging from ₹35,000 to ₹1 lakh.
Star, a 14-month-old Siberian Husky also owned by Gurdeep, garnered attention for its striking appearance and specific needs, such as cool weather and a diet including milk and curd. Priced at ₹1 lakh, Star’s parentage includes an American-bred father and an Indian-bred mother.
The show also featured Labradors, Sit Tzus, and Lhasa Apsos, with owners from across the city participating enthusiastically. A special event will rank the top eight local dogs, culminating with a “Best in Show” award.
Earlier, obedience tests and specialty shows for Labradors, Beagles, Dobermans, and Siberian Huskies were held on January 9 and 10, highlighting the unique characteristics and training of these pedigreed dogs.
The 35th FCI Show and 78th JKC Show, along with the prize distribution ceremony, will conclude the event on January 12.
