Deoghar. Aug 26: Shweta Sharma, a teacher at Vivekananda Middle School in Deoghar, has been selected for the prestigious National Teacher Award 2025. She is the only teacher from Jharkhand among 45 educators chosen nationwide. President of India will felicitate the awardees at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on September 5.

Sharma, who has taught for 21 years, is known for her innovative teaching methods, blending play-based learning with cultural heritage. During her selection interview, she impressed the jury by explaining how she upgraded herself as a primary teacher and supported fellow educators. “I created Abua Jadui Pitara—a magic learning kit with instruments and cultural items like Sohrai paintings, puppets and traditional musical instruments. It made learning fun and connected students to their roots,” she explained.

In addition to classroom teaching, Sharma has trained other teachers across the state, contributing over 120 digital learning modules for government platforms such as Diksha and DigiSchool. She previously received the District Best Teacher Award (2017), State Best Teacher Award (2018) and National ICT Award (2021).

Her selection has drawn congratulations from educationists and local residents alike. “Shweta’s commitment to both innovation and cultural preservation makes her an inspiration for teachers everywhere,” said one colleague.
