DDC unhappy with slow progress of Indira Awas and other projects


DDC convenes meeting of District Level Development Coordination Committee

Jamshedpur: The deputy development commissioner (DDC) of East Singhbhum Suraj Kumar expressed dissatisfaction over the progress of projects related to Indira Awas, MGNREGS and toilet construction in many blocks of the district on Saturday. He was speaking at a meeting convened by him at the Zila Parishad auditorium. He directed all block development officers (BDOs) to upload photographs of toilets constructed in the various panchayats.

The DDC asked the Mukhiyas to issue the funds received by them for toilet construction to the beneficiaries and submit reports. He further asked the BDOs and the Mukhiyas to speed up work in Indira Awas, MGNREGS and toilet construction projects and ensure quality in work.
Kumar said the BDOs should show-cause Mukhiyas who had failed to attend the meeting. He said the BDOs and Mukhiyas should pay special attention to public welfare projects and ensure their timely completion.

The DDC said the people should be advised to construct toilets with bricks made of fly ash. He said the tractors carrying sand should carry a plate with the name ‘SBM G’ written on it. He asked the BDOs to take measures to stop black-marketing and hoarding of sand.

Kumar further informed that the Chief Minister would be inaugurating housing units built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in November. Grih Pravesh Saptah will be observed from 18th to 24th November for the purpose, he said.

Among others present at the meeting included additional DC, DRDA director, NREP director, special rationing officer, district Panchayati Raj officer and junior engineers of various departments.
