Jamshedpur: As part of an anti-drug campaign being conducted across East Singhbhum district, Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan and Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey jointly flagged off an anti-drug awareness chariot from the Collectorate premises on Monday.
The campaign, being organized from June 10 to June 25 in accordance with state government directives, seeks to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage citizens, particularly young people, to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
The awareness vehicle will travel across various blocks, panchayats, urban localities, schools, and colleges in the district, disseminating information on the social, economic, and health-related consequences of drug addiction. Through a combination of audio messages, publicity materials, street plays, and public outreach programmes, the campaign aims to reach people from all sections of society.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan urged the youth to stay away from drugs and other social evils. He encouraged them to channel their energy towards education, sports, skill development, and creative pursuits that contribute positively to personal growth and society.
Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey emphasized that public participation is essential for the success of the anti-drug movement. He said that combating drug abuse requires collective efforts from families, educational institutions, community organizations, and law enforcement agencies. He appealed to citizens to actively support the campaign and help create a drug-free environment.
District officials said the campaign will focus on spreading awareness about the long-term impact of substance abuse on individuals, families, and communities. The initiative also seeks to educate people about the benefits of leading a healthy and addiction-free life.
The district administration has appealed to residents to actively participate in the awareness drive and cooperate in building a safe, healthy, and informed society free from the menace of drugs.
Officials expressed hope that sustained public awareness and community involvement would play a significant role in preventing substance abuse and protecting the younger generation from addiction.
