Chaibasa, May 16: Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing works under the Joint Action Plan during a meeting held at the auditorium of the West Singhbhum District Collectorate on Tuesday. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of various initiatives including the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, concrete housing, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Security Insurance Scheme, Pension Scheme, and Jan Dhan Yojana. These programs were identified by NITI Aayog under the Aspirational District Program, and the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need to work diligently to maintain the district’s ranking among the top in the country.
In recent months, West Singhbhum district achieved the fourth position in February and the fifth position in March in the delta ranking released by NITI Aayog under the Aspirational District Program, highlighting the district’s efforts towards inclusive development, particularly in the agricultural sector. The Deputy Commissioner highlighted ongoing initiatives such as the construction of Anganwadi centers and improvements in drinking water and sanitation facilities in schools which are expected to further enhance the district’s ranking.
Addressing the importance of nutrition, the DC urged officials from all departments to work harmoniously to improve the nutritional status of the district’s residents. Furthermore, the Police Department, District Child Protection Unit, and Product Department were directed to collaborate under the Joint Action Plan to combat drug abuse and keep children away from harmful substances. The sale of tobacco near schools was strictly prohibited, and principals were instructed to promptly report any violations to the nearest police station. The meeting was attended by District Planning Officer Rajiv Ranjan Sinha, District Social Welfare Officer Anita Kujur, District Child Protection Officer Punita Tiwari, representatives from the Police Department, LDM, President of West Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce, and other key officials.
