DBMS College B.Ed. students explore tribal art in Kinudih Village

Jamshedpur, Oct 31: B.Ed. students of DBMS College of Education visited Kinudih village on Thursday for an educational trip to study Sohrai paintings, under the initiative of Abrira Arts Foundation. The visit aimed to help students understand Jharkhand’s traditional tribal art and its cultural importance.

During the visit, local artists demonstrated the techniques of Sohrai and Sohra painting, an art form linked to the post-harvest Sohrai festival that celebrates fertility, harmony, and the bond between humans and nature. Artists also explained that while Sohrai paintings feature human and animal figures, Sohra art typically avoids facial details.

The trip was organized with the support of Principal Dr. Joohi Samarpita, Vice-Principal Dr. Monica Uppal, Secretary Sripriya Dharamrajan, and Joint Secretary Sudha Dilip. Faculty members Mousumi Dutta, Dr. Meenakshi Choudhary, and Kajal Mahato accompanied the fifty students.

The visit offered valuable exposure to indigenous art and its role in education.
