DAV Bistupur: Students discuss vexing global issues at Model UN conference

Jamshedpur, Sept 1: The highly anticipated ninth edition of the DAV Public School, Bistupur Model United Nations (DBMUN) conference commenced with great enthusiasm on Friday, September 1. This annual event, spanning two days, has brought together 356 students representing 10 different schools from Ranchi, Chaibasa, and Jamshedpur. DBMUN, known as the Steel City’s oldest and largest school-run MUN, has set the stage for young minds to delve into the intricacies of international diplomacy and global problem-solving.

The central theme for this year’s DBMUN is “Humanitarian Response, Sustainable Development, and Sustaining Peace, The Three Sides of The Same Triangle.” The conference aims to provide a platform for young delegates to collectively address pressing global challenges while fostering the spirit of international cooperation. Participants have the unique opportunity to step into the shoes of diplomats and representatives from various countries, allowing them to tackle some of the world’s most significant issues head-on.

The inaugural ceremony of DBMUN was graced by Pragya Singh, ARO of DAV Public Schools in Jharkhand Zone E, who also serves as the Principal of DAV Bistupur.

Accompanied by the dedicated teachers-in-charge, Pragya Singh officially inaugurated the program and shared her insights.

Principal Pragya Singh emphasized the core mission of DBMUN, stressing the importance of understanding diverse perspectives from different nations, each rooted in the best interests of its people. She urged the delegates to recognize their role as global citizens, emphasizing that the world is interconnected, and the responsibility to make it a better place rests on their shoulders.

In her address, Principal Pragya Singh highlighted the significance of learning experiences during the conference and encouraged delegates to document their insights over the two days, sharing them with their parents and friends. She concluded with an inspirational message, advising the young participants to strive to be the best versions of themselves not only during the conference but in every aspect of life, today and always.

DBMUN continues to serve as a vital platform for nurturing essential 21st-century skills, such as collaboration, problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, communication, and global awareness. It stands as a testament to the power of education in shaping future leaders and fostering a deeper understanding of the world’s complex challenges.

Delegates representing different countries and portfolios deliberated and discussed vexing global and national issues.

Committees discussed various agendas including Uniform Civil Code and its implementation, India’s G 20 Presidency, Cyber terrorism, Sexual harassment and gender based violence against women to name a few.
