Jamshedpur, January 21: The Safe Club of DAV Public School, Bistupur, organised a road safety awareness programme on Tuesday to mark Road Safety Awareness Week 2026. The programme was conducted under the guidelines of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, with the aim of educating students about road safety measures and responsible behaviour on roads.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Dhananjay, District Transport Officer (DTO), Jamshedpur; Niraj Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Jamshedpur; Prakash Kumar Giri, Road Safety Manager, Jamshedpur; and Ishwar Lal Sahu, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), Jamshedpur. The guests interacted with students and shared important insights on road safety and traffic discipline.
As part of the programme, the school organised a slogan writing competition for students of Classes IV and V and a mask-making competition for Classes VI and VII. Through creative expressions, students conveyed strong messages on road safety and responsible road use. A pantomime performance by students further highlighted the importance of following traffic rules and avoiding careless behaviour.
Adding to the impact of the event, a nukkad natak performed by the District Administration’s team delivered a powerful message on the consequences of reckless driving and the need for public awareness.
Addressing the gathering, DTO Dhananjay emphasised the importance of discipline on roads and spoke about rising accident cases due to negligence and ignorance of traffic rules. He urged students and citizens to make road safety a daily habit.
Principal Pragya Singh, also ARO Jharkhand Zone–E, praised government initiatives on road safety and appreciated the Safe Club’s efforts in organising regular awareness programmes. She encouraged students to strictly follow traffic rules both on roads and within the school campus.
The programme concluded with a road safety pledge taken by students, teachers and staff members, reaffirming their commitment to safer roads.
