Arka Jain, Netaji Subhas varsities shine at RVS Inter-College Sports Meet

Jamshedpur, January 21: The two-day inter-college sports tournament Kridankam concluded successfully at RVS College of Engineering & Technology on Tuesday, drawing enthusiastic participation from several colleges across the city. The event featured competitions in cricket, football, volleyball, basketball and badminton.

After preliminary rounds held on the first day, teams that qualified for the finals competed on Tuesday in closely contested matches. In cricket, Arka Jain University emerged as the champion. Netaji Subhas University won the football title, while Arka Jain University finished as runners-up. In basketball, Karim City College dominated both categories, winning the boys’ and girls’ titles, with RVS College of Engineering finishing runners-up in both events.

In volleyball, RVS College of Engineering clinched the boys’ title, while Co-operative College secured the runners-up position. In the girls’ volleyball final, Mrs. KMPM Vocational College emerged victorious, with Jamshedpur Women’s University finishing second. Badminton events were also conducted, with winners and runners-up being rewarded for their performances.

Following the completion of all finals, a prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of RVS Trust Chairman Binda Singh, Treasurer Shatrughan Singh, College Principal Prof. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Tiwari and Training and Placement Head Dr. Vikram Sharma. Winners and runners-up were awarded medals, certificates, shields and cash prizes.

The cricket and football winners received ₹6,000 each, while runners-up were awarded ₹3,000. In boys’ basketball and volleyball, winners received ₹3,000 and runners-up ₹1,500. In girls’ events, winners were awarded ₹2,000 and runners-up ₹1,000. Badminton winners received ₹1,000 and runners-up ₹500.

Addressing the gathering, Treasurer Shatrughan Singh praised the players’ sporting talent and expressed confidence that future national and international athletes would emerge from such tournaments. Concluding the event, Principal Prof. Dr. Tiwari said Kridankam had given a new identity to the college and assured that similar sports events would be organised in the future.
