Good Friday Observed with Devotion by Kerala Catholic Association in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, April 3: The Kerala Catholic Association (KCA), Jamshedpur, solemnly observed Good Friday with special prayers and rituals at the Divya Jyoti Retreat Centre, Sundernagar. The service was conducted in the Syro-Malabar tradition, reflecting the rich liturgical practices of the Kerala Catholic community. More than 100 members attended the Malayalam Mass, which was led by Father Saji VC.

Good Friday holds deep significance in Christianity as it commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The day is observed with prayer, fasting, and reflection, as believers remember the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus for the salvation of humanity. The sermon highlighted the events leading to the crucifixion, including the betrayal by Judas Iscariot and the trial before Pontius Pilate, which ultimately led to Jesus’ execution on the cross.

The message of the service focused on love, sacrifice, and forgiveness. It reminded devotees of the importance of self-reflection, seeking forgiveness, and strengthening their faith. The gathering also reflected on the hope of resurrection, which is celebrated on Easter Sunday as a symbol of victory over death and the promise of eternal life.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Jolly Mathew, Secretary of the association. KCA President Jiju Thomas appreciated the efforts of all members in organising the service and encouraged everyone to actively participate in the remaining Holy Week programmes.

As part of the ongoing Holy Week celebrations, the Easter Vigil service (Malayalam Mass) will be held on April 4 at 6:00 PM at the same venue. The association has invited all members to attend and make the event a meaningful and spiritually enriching experience.
