Jamshedpur: The multihued cultural colours of Rajasthan permeated the entire scenario at the Dhalbhum Club Ground where three thousand people gathered to celebrate the State�s Foundation Day. Organized by the Purvi Singhbhum Zila Marwari Sammelan (PSZMS), the festival was replete with Rajasthani folk songs, astounding dances and costumes reflecting a tradition that has withstood the tests of time.
While folk songs regaled the excited audience, a tribute to martyrs, �Dharti Dhoran Ri� added a sentimental touch to the proceedings as silence prevailed for those three minutes among the audience as silent tributes gripped the minds.
Among the folk dances, the �Ghumar� and peacock presentations that have drawn international attention to Rajasthani tradition, received standing ovations from the three thousand strong audience. Wearing traditional attire, the singers and dancers from Rajasthan and Jamshedpur spread splashes of colours that highlighted the traditions of a land synonymous with valor and martyrdom.
The local artistes comprised Bani Narayan, Varsha Agiwal and Harsha Agiwal of Bhayali Mahila Mandal, Sonari and also Srishti Agrawal, Astha Agrawal and Priya Agrawal from Chandrabali Apartments, Kasidih.
The cultural bonanza commenced with Ganesh Vandana. While anchoring the event, the program convener Mahabir Agrawal himself presented some of the favorite Rajasthani folk songs that were embellished with a mix of the bawdy and romantic touches which drew loud cheers. The cultural presentations reflected the unity and history that is integrated in the soul of Rajasthan and its people.
Crowds of young boys and girls were seen hovering in front of the stage while recording the dance sequences with their mobile phones.
All the artistes were presented mementos for their unique performances.� Guests lighted the traditional lamp to usher in the spirit of festivity at 6:30 pm. The chief guest on the occasion was Nirmal Kabra, state president of the Marwari Sammelan. The meet was presided by the district president of the Sammelan Umesh Shah. The program was anchored by the district assistant secretary Arun Gupta. His brief speech on Rajasthan was spoken in Marwari language. The program continued till 10 pm.
Gangour decoration contest
Women of the community from various places had come with their decorated Gangour crafts. Along with the winners of the top three awards the rest of the contestants were presented consolation prizes.
