Jamshedpur: Kolhan Commissioner Vijay Kumar Singh Thursday directed the top cops of East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and West Singhbhum to initiate measures to stop gambling, sale of illicit liquor and other illegal activities in their respective districts.
He said stopping illegal activities was especially important to save poor and gullible villagers from the clutches of anti-social elements.
He said village haats (markets) are often frequented by gamblers, criminals and hooch sellers who target poor villagers and rob them of their hard earned money. He said there were instances where innocent villagers were cheated by gamblers and tricksters. Such people should be immediately booked and arrested, he said.
